Abstract
Tubulointerstitial nephritis and uveitis (TINU) is an autoimmune oculorenal syndrome commonly diagnosed in younger aged population. Ocular manifestations of TINU can be forerunner to the renal involvement in about one-fifth of the patients and may also occur more than 1 year after the initial renal involvement in about 5% of the patients. The characteristic ocular manifestations of TINU include sudden onset bilateral nongranulomatous anterior uveitis with occasional mild vitreous cells. However, few cases with posterior involvement have been reported in the literature. The uveitis in TINU, unlike the renal involvement which commonly resolves spontaneously, is either chronic or recurrent in nature with flares occurring for ≥10 years.
