Alexei Antonovich Ilyushin (∗January 7th jul.(20th, greg.), 1911 in Kazan, Russian Empire; †May 31st, 1998 in Moscow, Russia) was an outstanding Scientist in the field of Continuum Mechanics, Theory of Thermomechanical Processes, Mechanics of Deformable Solids (Elasticity, Plasticity, Viscoelasticity, Viscoplastic Flows), Theory of Constitutive Relations, Aerodynamics, Strength and Stability. His scientific results and discoveries had a significant impact on the development of many areas of Mechanics of Solids. His investigations in Plasticity in the most general sense of this term are the main contribution in Mechanics.
