This severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome occurs after bites of the ticks Haemaphysalis longicornis , Amblyomma testudinarium , and Ixodes nipponensis, which transmit these viruses in many regions of East Asia, which has led, besides mild cases, also to death in more than 30 cases.
