Abstract
Dialogical Self Theory studies the self as a “society of mind.” It is neither a mini-theory nor a grand theory, but rather a “bridging theory.” As such it crosses the divisive boundaries of disciplines and subdisciplines so that new and unexpected linkages between these disciplines are created. This article starts with sketching the historical roots of the theory. The central part outlines its main tenets and core concepts. Finally, examples of research methods and fields of practice, inspired by the theory, are presented.
