Definition
Tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) (Smith et al. 2006) refers to a diffusion weighted imaging post-processing method implemented by the Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Brain (FMRIB) Analysis Group, Oxford University, UK for the FMRIB Software Library (FSL) as part of the FSL Toolkit (see Smith et al. 2004 retrieved 05/11/2017 from http://fsl.fmrib.ox.ac.uk/fsl/fslwiki/TBSS). This procedure is a set of steps designed to improve voxelwise group comparisons of diffusion scalar metrics, namely fractional anisotropy (FA), mean diffusivity (MD), radial diffusivity (RD), and/or axial diffusivity (AD) (see Dunst et al. 2014).
