Proposed Mechanism(s) of Action
Increases serotonin by blocking the serotonin reuptake pump. Theoretically inhibits muscarinic recycles and blocks nitric oxide synthase Cyp450 260, 2C19, and 3A4 enzymes
Indication
Major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and menopausal vasomotor symptoms
Off-Label Use
Stuttering, vasovagal syncope, and diabetic neuropathy
Side Effects
Serious
Seizures, mania, and suicidal ideation (rare)
Common
Sexual dysfunction, decreased appetite, nausea, dry mouth, insomnia, tremors, agitation, sweating, bruising, bleeding, and hyponatremia
