Charles Albert Burdsal, Jr. is professor of psychology and director of the Social Science Research Laboratory at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas.

Burdsal attended college at Texas Tech University, where he began as a pre-med student, ultimately receiving a BA in Psychology in 1966. He continued his education at Texas Tech University and obtained a PhD in 1971 under the advisement of Arthur B. Sweeney. After beginning his academic career as assistant professor of Business Administration at Wichita State University (WSU), he briefly left to serve as a research associate in the laboratory for personality and group analysis, led by Ray Cattell at the University of Illinois. He returned to WSU in 1972 as assistant professor of Psychology and has remained in the department since, serving as chair for nearly three decades.
