In a pulse within a pulse train, such as an electronic or optical pulse train, the ratio of (a) the pulse duration to (b) the pulse period. Common abbreviation PDF. Note: The pulse duty factor is dimensionless. The pulse period is the time between corresponding points on consecutive pulses, such as the time between the leading edges of two consecutive pulses.
