About the editors

Professor Yangyuan Wang is an Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and he is a fellow of IEEE. Since his graduation from the physics department of Peking University in 1958, Wang has been doing teaching and scientific research over 60 years. He is one of the main pioneers to develop the technology of integrated circuits in China. In early 1970s, Professor Wang led his team independently to develop the technology including mask making, fabrication recipes, and testing procedures for MOS-based integrated circuits. Through systematic research and perseverant experiments, Wang’s team taking only 6 months successfully fabricated China's first 1024-bit MOS dynamic random access memory in 1975. In China the success of DRAM fabrication is an important milestone event in the development of CMOS integrated circuit technology and industry, therefore, Wang was awarded the National Science Congress Award in 1978 because of this distinguished achievement.

As a leader in China’s semiconductorfield, Professor Wang established the Microelectronics School of Peking University. Since his teaching career Professor Wang has educated over hundreds of M.Sc. and Ph. D. program students, and post-doctors. Because of his dedicated contribution in education and academic research, he obtained the National Invention Award, National Science and Technology Progress Award, and the first Cai Yuanpei Award of Peking University, respectively. To promote the knowledge and the development potential of integrated circuits for people in academic and industrial fields, Professor Wang organized a team of 500 experts in 2016 to edit the book - Encyclopedia of Integrated Circuit Industry. This unique encyclopedia dedicates to the integrated circuit related technology, applications, and economy. The Chinese version of the book is published on September 12, 2018 to commemorate the invention of integrated circuit by Jack Kilby in 1958.
