About this book

Introduction

The Handbook of Philosophy of Management addresses the philosophical foundations of management in theory and practice. It covers all established branches of philosophy, including ontology, ethics, aesthetics, metaphysics, epistemology, politics, reflection in practice, and logic. Philosophy provides a meta-framework for moving beyond paradigm fragmentation within management research and education. This allows researchers and practitioners to find harmony in the contrasts that a philosophical lens on management reveals. The handbook sets out such a meta-framework, which is structured around established branches of philosophy, each having their own implication for management. The handbook’s broad scope and wide array of sections map out the field and provide a forum where philosophy can be meaningfully applied to the study of management in all its forms. Hence, it sheds an - indeedmuch needed – light on its complexities than has been possible hitherto with the sole application of the social sciences to the study of management.
