Professor Dr. Bogusław Buszewski graduated at the Faculty of Mathematics-Physics-Chemistry of the Maria Curie Sklodowska University in Lublin. In 1986 he has received PhD degree at the Faculty of Chemical Technology, Slovak Technical University in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia. In 1992 he has reached the Doctor of Sciences (habilitation) degree. In 1994 he has received Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń professor position and in 1999 received the title of professor of chemistry. After MSc graduation he became an assistant in the Department of Physical Chemistry, M. Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin. Then he worked in the Department of Chemical Physics and Physic‑Chemical Separation Methods until 1994. From 1994 he began to organize his research group at the Faculty of Chemistry, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and became the Head of the Department of Environmental Chemistry & Ecoanalytics, later on transformed into Chair of Environmental Chemistry & Bioanalytics. Until now he takes over this function. From 2010 He is also a head of Center For Education & Research in Separation Methods & Bioanalytics BioSep.
He has been Humboldt Fellow at Tübingen University (Germany) and visiting professor at several universities in the USA, Japan, China, UK, South Africa, Austria, the Netherlands, Taiwan and in many others European countries as well. He served as a member of the Committee of Analytical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences and from 2015 to 2019 He is a chairman of it. He serves also as the member of the editorial boards of 26 national and international journals and has authored or co-authored 15 books, numerous patents (most of them has been already implemented), lectures and more than 600 scientific papers (h=56). He is one of the most citied chemist in Poland (over 20 000 citations). He was awarded by numerous national and international organizations (including Doctor Honoris Causa) and supervised 45 PhD.
Prof. Buszewski is the ordinary member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the chairman of the Central European Group for Separation Sciences (CEGSS), the president of Polish Chemical Society (2010-2014), the president of the Societas Humboldtiana Polonorum, member of steering committee of Division of Environmental Chemistry of the European Association for Chemical and Molecular Sciences (EuCheMS), member of Austrian Academy of Sciences. In 2009 was elected to the board of European Society for Separation Science (EuSSS) (tenure 2009-2014) and now acts as president. In October 2007 was awarded by the Foundation for Polish Science (FNP) of prestige award Master (Mistrz) and in 2009 was awarded of the Polish Prime Minister award. He received also the award of the Ministry of Science & High Education in 2013 and received the title Doctor honoris causa of the University of SS Cyril and Methodius in Trnava. In 2015 He was awarded of the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. In 2016 he received Medal of Societas Humboldtiana Polonorum and Bronze Medal named by Janusz Sokołowski De Chemia Gedanensi Bene Meritumi and in 2017 Medal of Societatea De Chimie Din Republica Moldova.
