Southern Blotting

  • Protocol

Part of the book series: Springer Protocols Handbooks ((SPH))

Abstract

The Southern blotting technique was developed by E. Southern in 1975 (1) to facilitate the identification of specific sequences within a complex mixture of DNA fragments. The technique itself has been modified over the years and is now an extremely sensitive and fast analytical technique used in almost every molecular biology laboratory.
