About the editors

Jude Ehiabhi Okohue is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology based in Nigeria. He is a Fellow of the Medical College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the West African College of Surgeons. He is the immediate past Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Madonna University and Director of the Minimal Access Surgery Unit of Madonna University Teaching Hospital in Rivers State, Nigeria. He is equally the Medical Director of Gynescope Specialist Hospital, a fertility and Gynaecological Endoscopy Unit. Professor Okohue is the current Vice President of the Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy Surgeons (AGES), a Board member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) Hysteroscopy Special interest group, and serves as the West African representative at the Global Congress on Hysteroscopy (GCH) in Barcelona, Spain. He has been invited by leading international organisations such as the AAGL, Middle East and North Africa Hysteroscopy conference (HysMENA), Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria (SOGON), International Hysteroscopy Conference, International Federation of Fertility Societies (IFFS), Association for Fertility and Reproductive Health (AFRH), GCH, among others, as Faculty. Professor Okohue’s research interest is in infertility, Assisted reproduction, and Gynaecological endoscopy. He has published several papers in leading international journals, with numerous textbook chapters to his credit, and has been involved in training future gynaecologic endoscopic surgeons. 

Joseph Ifeanyichukwu Ikechebelu is a Professor of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Fertility Expert and Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgeon with the Faculty of Medicine, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Nnewi Campus and a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons . He was Head, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (2008-2010), Dean of Medicine (2012-2014),  Director of Academic Planning (2019-2021), and currently Deputy Vice Chancellor(Administration) Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka. He is a member of the National Task Team on Prevention of Mother-To-Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV (2003 to date), the pioneer President of Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy Surgeons (AGES) of Nigeria (2017-2021) and Chairman/Chief Examiner, Faculty of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, West African College of Surgeons (WACS) since 2019. He has trained over 300 medical doctors (consultants and residents) in Gynaecological endoscopy as the course director of Life institute for Endoscopy – a premier endoscopy training facility in Nigeria.  His Research focus is on Infertility & Assisted Reproductive Technology, Gynaecological Endoscopy and PMTCT, with about  150 peer-reviewed articles published in reputable journals.

Mr. Emmanuel Kalu is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician and a Specialist in Reproductive medicine at the Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom. He is the HFEA Licence Holder in the Assisted Conception Unit and leads the Oncofertility services unit. Mr. Kalu holds a postgraduate certificate in Medical Education, was a Departmental Lead for Undergraduate Students and RCOG College Tutor for postgraduate trainees in Kingston Hospital NHS Trust. His clinical interests include Fertility preservation, Endometriosis associated subfertility and Reproductive Immunology.

Mr. Bolarinde Ola (MB BS, MD, FWACS, FRCOG, MBA) is an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist, Advanced Reproductive Surgeon and IVF expert at the Sheffield Teaching Hospital, United Kingdom and honorary, visiting trainer at the Nisa Premier Hospital, Jabi, Abuja, Nigeria. He is a member, Board of Trustees and a foundation member of the Association of Gynaecological Endoscopy Surgeons (AGES) of Nigeria. Mr. Ola is the Training Programme Supervisor for Reproductive Medicine & Surgery in Sheffield and is one of the editors for the African Journal for Infertility and Assisted Conception. He isa member of the World Academy of Medical Leadership, where he co-leads the delivery of two modules (Research Methods and Hybrid International Emergency Medicine- HIEM Thesis). Furthermore, as the chairman of the RCOG-Nigeria Liaison Group, he worked tirelessly to make the Department of Health’s Medical Training Initiative (MTI) more accessible to West African Doctors. Mr. Ola was the Principal Investigator for the (a) microRNA study, looking at the contribution of microRNAs to the embryonic-endometrial dialogue in normal and altered endometrial receptivity; and (b) the Premium Study; a prospective, multi-national, multicentre, non-interventional study to evaluate the  long-term safety of Esmya. He has research interests in infertility, assisted reproduction and surgery, implantation failure and medical leadership.

Dr Okechukwu Ibeanu qualified from the University of Nigeria College of Medicine. He began postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, before leaving for the United States to continue his education. After graduating from residency in 2004, he went on to complete subspecialty fellowship training in urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery in 2007 at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He spent one year as an assistant professor, involved with global surgical outreach in sub-Saharan Africa, focused on populations of women suffering with genitourinary fistulas. Dr Ibeanu continued his education in surgery with acceptance into the prestigious Johns Hopkins University gynecologic oncology fellowship program in Baltimore, Maryland, graduating from training in 2011. As assistant professor at Hopkins, he developed a strong interest in cervical cancer, and human papillomavirus research, with a focus on the use of adenovirus vectors for antigen delivery in a novel human papillomavirus vaccine. His work involved an honorary lectureship at the University of Zambia in Lusaka, collaborating on cervical cancer prevention. Currently, Dr Ibeanu serves as the associate fellowship program director for gynecologic oncology at York Hospital in Pennsylvania. He also has continued to participate in health care delivery efforts outside of the United States, mainly in Nigeria, where he is active in collaborating with colleagues, to further gynecologic subspecialty education and practice. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, Society of Surgical Oncology, International Gynecologic Cancer Society, and American Urogynecology Society, among others. Dr. Ibeanu is board certified in gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, and general gynecology and obstetrics, with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a reviewer for the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology peer-review journals. He has numerous scientific publications and textbook contributions
