My research focuses on studying how viruses interact to cause disease in blackberries. My Ph.D. research focuses fungal cell biology, virology, and molecular biology, characterizing septin cellular regulators during infection-related development in Magnaporthe oryzae., Mastered fluorescence microscopy to study the role of the cytoskeleton in controlling polarized fi on Blackberry yellow vein disease (BYVD), which is caused by a combination of different viruses. BYVD-affected fields become unproductive in 5 years versus the normal 20 years. I am using cellular and molecular biology approaches to understand how the most prevalent viruses in the BYVD complex interact to provide valuable information on disease development mechanisms. A deeper understanding of how different viruses interact to cause disease will provide better control strategies and prolong the lifespan of blackberries, contributing to a sustainable and reliable food production system
