Behaviormetrika - Call for Papers on "Advances in Multivariate Data Analysis"

Guest Editors: Kohei Adachi and Michel van de Velden
First draft submission: January 31, 2024

Dear Researchers,
Multivariate data analysis is an important topic in data science and behaviormetrics. Traditional multivariate data analysis procedures are time-honored and prevalent in recent research with continuing advances in various aspects, for example, in algorithms, statistical inferences, and modifications toward a variety of purposes. Furthermore, new multivariate data analysis procedures have been proposed and applied fields have been extended in this century. The continuing interest and recent developments in multivariate data analysis motivate us to propose a special issue titled "Advances in Multivariate Data Analysis". We are delighted to announce a call for papers for this upcoming special issue. Tutorial and review articles are also welcomed in the issue.

Backgrounds
Multivariate data analysis has a long history and a variety of procedures were developed. Presentations of new or modified procedures, as well as papers containing reviews of recent developments would fit the special issue. Furthermore, advances in computational methodologies and mathematical foundations are welcomed as well. In this century, machine learning techniques have advanced tremendously. In such techniques, traditional multivariate data analysis procedures have been used, and innovative new approaches have been developed. Thus, multivariate data analysis in machine learning is an interesting topic. Finally, we also welcome tutorial articles and scholarly explanations of software.

Potential topics in the issue may include, but are not limited to the following general and specific subjects:

General
• New and Modified Procedures
• Reviews of Recent Developments
• Relationships among Procedures
• Computational Methodologies
• Mathematical Foundations
• Multivariate data analysis in Machine Learning
• Applications of multivariate data analysis in Empirical Sciences
• Tutorials on Significant Topics
• Scholarly Explanations of Created Software

Specific
• Multiple Regression/Path Analysis
• PCA/Factor Analysis/Independent Component Analysis
• Structural Equation Modeling
• Classification/Multidimensional Scaling
• Discriminant Analysis/Canonical Correlation Analysis
• Multivariate Categorical Data Analysis
• Multiway Data Analysis/Tensor Analysis
• Graphical Modeling
• High-Dimensional Data Analysis
• Multivariate Statistical Inferences
• Functional Data Analysis

Submissions
Please prepare your paper following Behaviormetrika’s submission guidelines (this opens in a new tab). All papers must be submitted to the journal's submission system (this opens in a new tab).

While submitting, please select "Yes" for the question “Does this manuscript belong to a special feature?” and then select the special feature “S.I. : Advances in Multivariate Data Analysis”.

In addition, please indicate in your cover letter that your submission is intended for the "Advances in Multivariate Data Analysis" special issue. The initial drafts should be submitted by the deadline stipulated below.

The papers accepted will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to maintain high standards of scholarly work. We are open to receiving original research papers, review articles, short notes, and position-style papers that contemplate key research challenges and prospective directions.

Timeline
First draft submission: January 31, 2024
Online publication: Papers that pass the preliminary checks and peer review will be published online on an ongoing basis.
