Agronomy for Sustainable Development - Virtual issue on “Agricultural Production Systems sIMulator (APSIM): modelling new technologies, applications and frontiers”
The Agricultural Production Systems sIMulator (APSIM) is internationally recognised as an advanced platform for modelling and simulation of agricultural systems. It contains a suite of modules that enable the simulation of systems for a diverse range of plant, animal, soil, climate and management interactions. APSIM is still rapidly evolving to respond to new challenges and new demands.
The Virtual Issue focuses on recent advances in technologies and applications of APSIM relative to agricultural production in:
- Software and science development in APSIM, and related tools
- Cropping systems, pasture management, agroforestry and farming systems
- Environmental, agronomic and socio-economic risk and impact assessments
- Genotype x Environment x Management adaptation
- Linking APSIM with new technologies
- Modelling Soil-Plant-Atmosphere interactions
- Mitigation and adaptation to climate change
Contributions including inter- and trans-disciplinary approaches are welcome.
Important dates
Submission start: 1 July 2021
Submission deadline: 31 April 2022
Submission process
Manuscripts within ASD’s scope should be submitted online as regular ASD articles (review and research articles) and should follow the journal submission guidelines. The cover letter submitted with the manuscript should have the following heading: “submission to the APSIM virtual issue”. Manuscripts will be handled by guest associate editors and peer-reviewed as regular articles. If accepted, they will be published in the journal before being gathered in the virtual issue.
