With this special issue, we seek to address intersections of STEM learning—including traditional disciplines, integrated STEM, and certain applications of computer science—and technology within online, computer-assisted, and traditional learning environments. This special issue offers a collection of multidisciplinary scholarship that can expand our understanding of a method steeped in technology that utilizes both big data and qualitative understandings to answer pressing educational issues.
We encourage submissions that investigate the use of text, audio, and image GenAI tools and welcome empirical research about the application of GenAI and/or stakeholder perspectives, novel conceptual frameworks, and detailed case studies. This issue represents an important opportunity to advance our understanding of GenAI’s use in science education, seeking to foster a rich dialogue that bridges theoretical insights and practical applications in preparing the next generation of educators.
