Journal of Oceanography - Call for papers : Midlatitude ocean-atmosphere interactions and extreme events
Midlatitude oceanic structures, such as strong currents and eddies, and their variability have been shown to have the potential to influence the atmosphere aloft through associated sea surface and/or upper ocean temperature distributions. Atmospheric responses are found at various spatiotemporal scales, ranging from large-scale atmospheric circulation anomalies to the development of tropical and extratropical cyclones and heavy rain/snowfall due to enhanced heat and moisture supply from the warm ocean. In this special section, we are pleased to invite submissions of studies on all aspects of extratropical ocean-atmosphere interactions and related oceanic and atmospheric variability and its predictability through observational, theoretical, and numerical studies.
- Start of the submission period: January 2024
- End of the submission period: October 2024
- Expected publication date: March 2025
