Aims and scope
The Journal of Psychopathology and Behavioral Assessment (JOBA) publishes articles reporting on innovative research on assessment and psychopathology. These investigations should aim to enhance understanding of assessment and/or psychopathology of major mental disorders and personality disorders applicable to all ages. The journal fosters scientific inquiry into novel assessments, inquiry into studies that help improve assessment, and studies that help us better comprehend psychopathology, including research on description, mechanisms, and intervention.
Studies that examine the biological and psychobiological factors precipitating and maintaining psychopathology are also welcomed as are multi-modal assessments (self-, parent-report, observations, structured interviews), and theories of psychopathology and behavior change as they can all add to the richness of the submissions.
Translations of measures into other languages alone are not sufficient to merit publication in the journal. Rather, studies that advance our understanding of assessment and enlighten the field on the etiology and treatment of psychopathology are considered some of the stronger papers. Cross-cultural papers in this regard can further advance knowledge. Studies that tap psychological, biological, and behavioral outcomes are also welcomed.
