The use of this term (and its opposite, insensitivity) is not consistent among the authors in the area (for more details, see Nico, 1999). Given that these terms are frequently found in the literature, they will be employed here according to Madden, Chase, and Joyce (1998), who classified behavior as sensitive to contingencies when it changes systematically following changes in contingencies, and as insensitive to contingencies when even after there are changes in contingencies, there is no systematic change.
