Abstract
Ocimum sanctum (Tulsi) is a native Indian subcontinent plant with important medicinal values. Leaves with mosaic and curling observed on O. sanctum in Rajasthan province of India were severely stunted having symptoms of typical Begomovirus infection. The authors report on a comprehensive study of sequence variations, phylogeny and recombination breakpoints for Tomato leaf curl virus, prevailing in the plant O. sanctum. To confirm Begomovirus infection, PCR and whole genome amplification via rolling circle experiments were exhibited by means of complete nucleic acid (DNA) isolated from symptomatic plants leaves. Sequence analysis established the association of betasatellite molecule along with DNA-A genome and contemplated as isolate of Tomato leaf curl virus as it showed 98% similarity with ToLCV. The present study includes phylogenetic, recombination and pathogenicity analysis of ToLCV infecting O. sanctum.

This study includes phylogenetic, recombination and pathogenicity analysis of TLCuV infecting O. sanctum. As far as anyone is concerned, the carried out study is the foremost account of TLCuV naturally infecting a new host O. sanctum in India.
