Abstract
Medicinal plants hold different biological and pharmacological activities, and play important role in the pharmaceutical industries. Most of the species being harvested for their underground parts are under different threat categories. Over-exploitation is considered as major cause. The extraction of aerial parts for therapeutic uses without uprooting the whole plants is of interesting aspect. This communication emphasizes the importance of presence of secondary metabolites in aerial parts of these herbs especially those listed in different threat categories.
