Abstract

We report an interesting case of a urothelial carcinoma clear cell variant of the urinary bladder. A 78-year-old man presented, complaining of gross haematuria. Evaluation revealed a nodular bladder tumour arising from the right latero-superior wall. A transurethral resection of the bladder tumour was performed. The histopathological diagnosis was difficult due to the diffuse clear cell appearance of the tumour. Immunohistochemistry stain showed an urothelial carcinoma (Cytokeratin, CK 7+, CK20+, CK34βE12+, Vimentin-. Accurate diagnosis of this unusual variant of urothelial carcinoma is essential to the choice of medical therapy and prognosis assessment.
