Abstract

In this study, the synthesis and detection of magnetic interphase nanocatalyst Fe3O4@SiO2@TMEDA-Pd is described as a heterogeneous catalyst highly efficient for the rapid preparation of di-aryl sulfides and pyrido-dipyrimidine derivatives. The catalyst was characterized using various techniques including ICP-OES (inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), FE-SEM (field emission scanning electron microscopy), TEM (transmission electron microscopy), XRD (X-ray diffraction analysis), Elemental mapping, EDS (energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy), VSM (vibrating sample magnetometry), TGA (thermal gravimetric analysis) and BET (Brunauer–Emmett–Teller). The synthesis of the mentioned derivatives with our catalyst was accompanied by the following advantages, which all showed our good idea for designing this catalyst: performing reactions in mild conditions with excellent efficiency, short reaction times, simple work-up, appropriate values of turnover frequency (TOF) and turnover number (TON), possibility to use external magnets to accelerate the separation of the catalyst from the reaction mixture and its reusability without considerable diminish in selectivity and activity.
