Abstract

Geoheritage sites are unique and fragile areas situated in sensitive geological environments. Therefore, reasonable protective and scientific measures should be applied to improve their value. The Tianfusha Palace of Danxia geoheritage sites was selected as the study area, statistical methods, ArcGIS software and literature reviews were applied to build the relationship between geoheritage sites and environment, human activities, and societal values. The results showed that Tianfusha Palace was mainly influenced by environmental factors during long periods and geoheritage is the result of a natural evolutionary process, however, recent human activities have had an obvious effect on its geoheritage. There is special scientific research value, rare resources attributes, high tourism value and scientific education value. Government functions and public education activities have a significant impact on geotourism and geoconservation development. We constructed a theoretical framework for scientific public education with the core content of knowledge and understanding, shared values, responsibilities and roles, chances and profits, government responsibility and participation. Geoheritage should be sufficiently applied in the process of geological practice for the geological teaching of undergraduate students. Theoretical study is the basis of the entire geological teaching process, and geological practice is a major part of the entire geological teaching process, theoretical studies and geological practices are combined to improve sublimation theory. This study can provide a useful guiding function, in such a manner its societal value and teaching application can sufficiently be brought up and conservation programs can be scientifically built.
