Abstract

In this paper the relation between characteristic (equivalent plastic) strain and springback, taking a benchmark of NUMISHEET'93 2-D draw bending and using the commercial FEM code, ABAQUS, has been investigated. The simulations are preformed for three test materials: AA5754-O, AA6111-T4 and DP-Steel. The effect of process parameters such as blankholder force, friction and blank thickness, on springback has been studied. The obtained results for springback have been compared with some experimental data. It is found that higher amount of characteristic strain in the sheet causes less springback after unloading.
