Abstract
A fabric drape shape database has been prepared to find the optimum combination of fabric physical properties for simulating the appearance of an actual fabric. First, an objective and quantitative evaluation method for the traditional Cusick drape tester has been devised. Then a virtual drape tester has been developed using an implicit integration based drape simulation engine to generate a series of virtually draped fabric with various physical properties. Finally, a search algorithm has been developed to find the optimum property combination for target fabric by comparing the simulated results with the Cusick drape tester result of that fabric.
