Abstract
Currently, traditional values are being confronted with rapid social changes both outside and within families. Over the last decades, families have been changing shape, from “bottom heavy” (many children) to “top heavy” (many elderly). The norms of filial obligations are, however, still vital. This article discusses the many questions that are raised when family members want to do the “right thing” but, due to society’s changes, may not know what the “right thing” is.
