Abstract
Epidemiologic and experimental data are presented that suggest the involvement of the hepatitis C virus in the pathogenesis of some histotypes of B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, in particular immunocytoma, marginal zone lymphoma, and diffuse large cell lymphoma. Clinical presentation, including association with cryoglobulinemic syndrome, is described and therapeutic options are discussed.

The findings suggest that the malignant proliferation is derived from an antigen-driven pathologic process, with a common antigen (HCV) involved in MC syndrome and in HCV-associated NHL.
