Body fatness and the risk of cancer

Abstract

The WCRF/AICR report published in 2007 has re-evaluated the evidence concerning the relationship between body fatness and the risk of cancer. The evidence is judged as convincing for the relationship body mass index-cancer in the case of the oesophagus, pancreas, colonrectum, breast (in post-menopausal women), endometrium and kidney and for the relationship abdominal fatness-cancer in the case of the colon-rectum. Due to the increase of the prevalence of obesity in France, it is essential to develop its prevention as well as screening obese people for cancer.
