Interfacial Characteristics and Enhanced Mechanical Properties of Al0.5CoCrFeNi High-Entropy Alloy Particles Reinforced Al Matrix Composites

Abstract

This work investigated the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al0.5CoCrFeNi high-entropy alloy particles reinforced aluminum matrix composites (HEAps/AMCs) fabricated by ultrasonic casting technique. Incoherent FCC phases and tiny coherent L12 nanophases were precipitated inside the matrix and around the interface between Al and HEAps, respectively. The strength and hardness of AMCs exhibited superior properties after introducing different contents of HEAps. However, excess HEAps were detrimental to the tensile properties.
