Design life assessment of the blade root of a gas turbine unit under thermomechanical loading

  • Published:
Strength of Materials Aims and scope

The semianalytic finite element method with the use of approaches of continuum fracture mechanics was employed to assess the design life of the blade root of a gas turbine unit under thermomechanical loading. The results of computations, obtained with two- and three-dimensional problems, were compared. For design life assessment in creep, the nonuniform temperature distribution over the root cross-section should be taken into account.
