Resonance Interactions of Symmetric Surface and Bulk Waves in Oversized Sectioned Slow-Wave Structures

  • Published:
Russian Physics Journal Aims and scope

The resonance properties of coupled electromagnetic waves at frequencies of 9 and 35 GHz in the sectioned oversized slow-wave structure of a multiwave Cherenkov generator with radial polarization were investigated theoretically. It has been found how the presence of a drift tube in the slow-wave structure and the diaphragm characteristics of the structure affect the longitudinal resonance frequencies of coupled symmetric TM waves, the quality factor of the slow-wave structure, and the distribution of the electromagnetic field. The configurations of electromagnetic fields in slow-wave structures have been studied that could conceivably provide efficient coupling of the field to an electron beam and ensure stable generation of radiation in a multiwave Cherenkov generator.
