Stability of the quality criteria for holographic particle images

  • Published:
Russian Physics Journal Aims and scope

The sensitivity of the boundary contrast and boundary brightness jump quality criteria for images to the degree of boundary image blurring as well as to the parameters of normal noise and uniform background in the case of their presence in the image is investigated. Special features of the response of the criteria to the change in the width of the regions selected along the image boundary for calculation of the criteria are discussed. The stability of the criteria to possible errors in determining the boundaries of the reconstructed holographic particle image is considered. Results of numerical calculations and experiments with binary and actual holographic images of a spherical opaque particle are presented.
