Electrical currents in coronal magnetic loops

  • Published:
Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics Aims and scope

We consider generation of the electrical currents in coronal magnetic loops formed by convergent flows of photospheric plasma at the nodes of several supergranules as well as the case where the magnetic loop is filled up by a dense chromospheric plasma. We also discuss the problem of current closing in a coronal magnetic loop and related experimental data. Skin scales that affect the efficiency of inductive interaction of coronal magnetic loops are estimated. The method of diagnostics of the current magnitude in coronal magnetic loops based on the SOHO and “Yohkoh” satellites is considered. Wave processes occurring in the coronal magnetic loop systems due to the inductive interaction of electrical currents are studied.
