Acknowledgments

On behalf of all my co-guest editors of this special issue (Vyacheslav Klimov, Toshi Nagata, Peter Nixon and Jian-Ren Shen), I express sincere appreciation to all the 216 authors from 16 different countries for their outstanding contributions to this issue, in honor of the two pioneers Kimiyuki Satoh and Thomas J. Wydrzynski. I give my respect to Satoh and Wydrzynski by showing a photograph of mine from my younger days (Fig. 3). Finally, I am really grateful to Govindjee (Fig. 4), the Founding Editor of the Historical Corner Section of this Journal, for his advice to develop this exciting issue, for his constant support and for his comments on this Editorial.
