Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Some Novel 6-(Substituted Phenyl)-4-(10H-Phenothiazin-10-YL)Pyrimidin-2(1H)-Ones/Thiones

  • Published:
Pharmaceutical Chemistry Journal Aims and scope

Abstract

Several N-acyl phenothiazine chalcones were prepared by the condensation of various aldehydes with N-acyl phenothiazine in alcoholic KOH. The chalcones were further treated with urea and thiourea to obtain 6-(substituted phenyl)-4-(10H-phenothiazin-10-yl)pyrimidin-2(1H)-ones/thiones. All the synthesized compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activity and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, and mass spectroscopy.
