Prospective Magnesium Alloys with Elevated Level of Properties for the Aircraft Engine Industry

  • Published:
Metal Science and Heat Treatment Aims and scope

A theoretical analysis is performed and the main alloying elements are chosen for developing novel magnesium alloys with an elevated level properties. The phase diagrams and the melting temperatures of the alloying elements are shown to be related to the high-temperature strength of the magnesium alloys. The effect of the chemical composition and structural components of the alloy on the mechanical properties and on the refractoriness of the cast metal is determined.
