This article examines a system developed to assist decision-making in the control of blast-furnace operation. The system is designed to prevent accidents, improve the qualifications of furnace personnel, and train students in upper-division courses at vocational schools. It was developed on the basis of the principle of heterogeneous modeling, i.e., combining dissimilar models.
