As a result of tension of cylindrical specimens cut out in different directions relative to the axis of a pipe of gas main after long-term operation, we establish the differences between the mechanical properties of steel depending on the orientation of the specimen. As an important factor of influence on the mechanical behavior of the ferrite-pearlitic steel, we can mention its susceptibility to delamination in the direction of rolling. This trend is especially well manifested under the joint action of plastic prestraining and hydrogenation.
