Effect of the ferroelectric environment on the dynamics of self-induced transparency in solitons

  • Published:
Journal of Russian Laser Research Aims and scope

Abstract

The dynamics of self-induced transparency in solitons was studied theoretically and numerically for the case where atoms described in the two-level approximation were placed into a medium with ferroelectric properties. An order-disorder model was chosen to simulate the ferroelectric medium. The ferroelectric is considered in the pseudospin formalism, which makes it possible partially to avoid difficulties with the description of a nonlinearity leading to a ferroelectric phase transition.
