Abstract

Magnetic graphene oxide composite was studied for dispersive solid phase microextraction of fenoxaprop-p-ethyl herbicide (FPE) from different samples (water, soil and wheat) and determined by high performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detector. The composite was prepared and characterized using Scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared and X-ray diffraction spectroscopic techniques. Different conditions for the extraction of FPE were investigated such as mass of sorbent, solution pH, extraction time and solvent for extraction of FPE from sorbent. At optimum conditions, a linear response was achieved in the range of 0.5–30 µg L−1 with a high determination of coefficient (R2 = 0.9989). The limit of detection and limit of quantification was found 0.03 µg L−1 and 0.11 µg L−1, respectively. The proposed method was used for determination of FPE in water and wheat samples, with spiked recoveries of 84–97% with relative standard deviation less than 5%, indicating that the proposed sorbent could be promising sorbent for extraction of FPE herbicide in water, wheat and soil samples.
