Microwave Electromagnetic Method of Melting the Paraffin Plug in an Open Coaxial System

  • Published:
Journal of Engineering Physics and Thermophysics Aims and scope

The formation of the temperature profile in an open coaxial system with a paraffin plug interacting with a microwave electromagnetic field has been investigated experimentally. It has been shown that the temperature distribution in the pipes is nonuniform, corresponding to the standing electromagnetic wave formed in the interelectrode space by the reflection of electromagnetic waves from the oil pool and the coaxial line inhomogeneities. The presence of paraffin in the interpipe space accelerates the process of melting throughout the coaxial system.
