Remedial Slope Protection for a Flood Dam on the Chadan River in Tuva

  • Published:
Power Technology and Engineering Aims and scope

Measures for slope protection were developed and installed. The reliability of the proposed protective structures was confirmed by calculation studies using the finite element method. In particular, the strength and stability of the concrete slope protection was tested under local impacts of ice formation and static ice impact caused by changes in the vertical position of the ice field. For the latter type of ice impact, a modeling technique was developed. The combined concrete slope protection, comprising concrete beams and a rock fill, was demonstrated to reduce the overall thickness of the required protective cover.
