The studies described make it possible to judge the strain – stress state of ceramic articles at different stages of firing and to establish their effect on the thermomechanical properties of the material. The studies showed that the introduction of pyrite cinders into ceramic paste lowers the elastic modulus by 25 – 30% during the initial period (to 400°C) and 4 – 10% in the temperature interval 500 – 1000°C. These data show that pyrite cinders can be used to intensify firing.
