Nitrolysis of N-alkylurotropinium Salts

A simple general method was developed for the preparation of 6-alkyl-2,4,6-trinitro-2,4,6-triazahexan-1-ol acetates by treating accessible N-alkylurotropinium salts with a HNO3–Ac2O mixture.
