Zusammenfassung
Hintergrund
Abstract
Background
Concerning the chief complaint of acute dyspnoea, point-of-care ultrasound can be directly performed by emergency physicians. Thus, ultrasound has the potential of becoming a valuable tool to correctly diagnose patients with acute dyspnoea in the preclinical and clinical situation.
Results
Lung ultrasound is a rapid diagnostic method to distinguish between heart failure, pleural effusion, pneumothorax, pulmonary embolism and pneumonia. Furthermore, clinical diagnostics with lung ultrasound allows multiple follow-ups during patient management without exposing the patient to X-ray radiation.
Conclusion
In summary, lung ultrasound is a valuable and valid point-of-care diagnostic test, supporting follow-up and decision-making during treatment of affected patients.
