Der onkologische Patient der Zukunft

Zusammenfassung

Ausgangspunkt dieses Beitrags ist die Frage nach dem onkologischen Patient der Zukunft. Es wird die These vertreten, dass der Patient der Zukunft eng mit der Versorgungsstruktur der Zukunft verknüpft ist. Die vom Institute of Medicine aufgezeigte defizitäre Integration der onkologischen Versorgungsprozesse bedarf eines ergebnisverantwortlichen Managements der onkologischen Versorgungskette und eines Co-Managements durch den Patienten. Es wird vorgestellt, mit welchen Versorgungsstrukturen ergebnisverantwortliches Versorgungsmanagement sichergestellt werden kann und welche Formen des Co-Managements möglich sind. Wir kommen zum Ergebnis, dass der onkologische Patient der Zukunft ein je nach Versorgungsstruktur unterschiedlich geforderter Co-Manager ist.

Abstract

The starting point of this paper is the issue regarding oncological patients of the future. We argue that the future role of patients is heavily dependent on the future structure of oncological care. The Institute of Medicine has revealed a lack of integration in oncological care processes. To solve this problem, a holistic form of accountable managed care must be established and the idea of the patient as a co-manager must be fostered. In this paper, we discuss different holistic care solutions and different forms of patient-based co-management. The conclusion is that the patient of the future will be a co-manager and that different care solutions require different forms of patient-based co-management.
