Efficient synthesis of highly substituted thiophenes from acetylenic esters, ethyl bromopyruvate, and tetramethylthiourea

Abstract

The reaction of acetylenic esters with ethyl bromopyruvate in the presence of tetramethylthiourea led to highly functionalized thiophenes in excellent yields.
