Summary.

The article explains the cognitive psychoanalytic theory of psychotherapy developed by Weiss and discusses the theory in the field between psychoanalytic and cognitive-behavioristic theories and therapeutic techniques. The basic assumption is: pathogenic beliefs that are based on traumatic childhood experiences prevent normal desirable goals. Patients are unconsciously motivated to overcome pathogenic beliefs. In psychotherapy, the patient works to disprove pathogenic beliefs by testing them in the relationship with the therapist. In this way patients achieve corrective emotional experiences. The theory is supported by numerous empirical studies.

Zusammenfassung.

Im nachfolgenden Artikel wird die von Weiss entwickelte kognitiv orientierte psychoanalytische Therapietheorie zusammenfassend erläutert und im Spannungsfeld von psychoanalytischer und kognitiv-verhaltenstherapeutischer Theoriebildung und Therapietechnik diskutiert. Weiss geht von der Annahme aus, daß pathogene Überzeugungen, die sich aus traumatischen Erfahrungen mit Bezugspersonen in der Kindheit entwickeln, normale, wünschenswerte Ziele verhindern. Er postuliert, daß Patienten eine unbewußte Motivation haben, diese Überzeugungen in der Beziehung zum Therapeuten zu widerlegen, indem sie den Therapeuten testen und somit korrektive emotionale Erfahrungen möglich werden. Die Theorie wird durch umfangreiche empirische Forschung gestützt.
